The Mills 58, built in Valencia for the Denali Sailing Team, completes her sea trials ahead of the 2026 Newport-Bermuda Race

King Marine is proud to announce the successful launch and sea trials of Denali, a new Mills 58 offshore racing yacht built at the shipyard's facility in Valencia, Spain, and designed by Mills Design Ltd. The project marks another milestone in King Marine's growing portfolio of custom high-performance racing yachts.

From King Marine to Sea

Denali — the fourth iteration of the project, affectionately known among the team as Denali^4 — was launch in April 2026. After completing the final stages of construction at King Marine's Valencia shipyard, the yacht took to the water and immediately impressed with her on-the-water behavior. Conditions during sea trials included 22 knots of breeze, with triple-headed sail configurations tested alongside the yacht's integrated water ballast and powered hydraulic winch systems.

The reaction from the team was immediate. "Denali went on the water and she is sailing beautifully," reported those close to the project following the first outing. "We can't wait to see her competing around the world."

Design and Technical Specifications

The Denali 58 is a purpose-built offshore ORC/IRC speedster conceived for short-handed competition. Designed by the renowned Mills Design Ltd, the yacht features a water ballast system and hydraulic powered winches — technologies that allow a smaller crew to manage a 58-foot racing machine with the efficiency of a larger team. The project was assembled in close collaboration between King Marine, the Denali Sailing Team, and team principal Wade Morgan.

Looking Ahead: Newport-Bermuda 2026

With sea trials now complete, Denali's next target is the prestigious Newport-Bermuda Race, one of the classic offshore challenges in the North Atlantic calendar. The Denali Sailing Team has confirmed the race as a primary objective for the yacht's debut season, with further international competition planned throughout 2026 and beyond.

The Denali project joins an exceptional roster of racing yachts built at King Marine's Valencia facility, including the Rolex IMA Maxi Grand Prix World Champion Django 7X (Wallyrocket 71 / Botin Partners) and multiple championship-winning TP52s. King Marine's commitment to delivering precision engineering, on-schedule builds, and race-ready performance has made the shipyard one of the most sought-after facilities in offshore and grand prix racing.
